Group Info

The main focus of this Group is exactly as I say! It is dedicated to Doc Hudson, the former race-car, and less-personable citizen of Radiator Springs. Although he may not be the first name most think of when they remember the film, Cars, there are certain people who love him more than any other character. And, we know who we are, too! The things I accept in this Group is any artwork of Doc Hudson, and literature, so long as he is the main character, and not just a bit-part. I also will accept screenshots, as long as credit is given to Pixar. What is not accepted: Humanized versions of any of the characters and X-Rated materials. Make this Group a place to share your love for this wonderful fellow; the Fabulous Hudson Hornet.

(This text is the property of UnicornCat, I am just posting it here from her. Offer the praise to her for this outstanding piece!)

I got to know my favourite car by watching the movie "Cars". Right at first sight, I fell in love with the old race car "Doc", which is a Hudson Hornet. First, I only liked his character, later I also fell in love with the car he is.

The Hudson Hornet is a special model that was built during the 50´s, from 1951 until 1953.
In these few years, the model slightly changed, different details were attached.

1951

As you can see, the striking "Hornet" ornament, that means the metal attachment on the side, went from rear to right behind the front tire. Also, the front ornaments around the bumper are characterized by two cross struts going from the "Hudson" sign down. This is also the model of "Doc", the "Cars"-Character.
The following models existed in 1951:
Club Coupé
Convertible Brougham
Hollywood Coupé
Sedan

1952

The metal "Hornet" attachment went from behind the tire to above the tire and became longer. The two cross struts are still there. More look changes weren´t made.

1953

The 1953 Hudson Hornet is characterized by the missing cross struts around the bumper. Compared to the 52' Hornet, this is the only change in the look.

Club Coupé

Hollywood Coupé
Sedan

1954-1957

In the following years, the Hornet still exists, but in a totally other way as we all know it.
That means, the design changed heavily. My personal opinion is that it was changed due to changes of fashion back then. The old design was already outdated, new, more modern designs were made.

Engine

The Hudson Hornet is characterized by the "Twin-H-Power" Engine, which was ahead of its time in the 50's. It had a very good performance, that is why the Hornet even was a race car. As a race car (like Doc is), the Hornet was unbeatable and remained winner of many championships.

Unfortunately, the company "Hudson" existed until 1957, no longer. Totally, they made cars between 1910 and 1957.

hey sug' I was wondering if you could remove this from the group: doc-hudson-hornet.deviantart.c…

A nice user told me that they're Beetles, not Hudson Hornets. I don't think it should belong to the club. Will it be alright if you remove it from the club?:( (Sad)  I'm terribly sorry.
